Jasmine, a proud native of Columbus, single mother, and social worker, Jasmine has woven advocacy and radical self-care practices into her work within her community. Her creative journey began early on, but it truly blossomed during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Inspired by her children and their many questions around their identity; Jasmine turned to painting as a powerful way to educate and celebrate the beauty of being Black and loving the skin your in. As she honed her artistic skills, she embraced a variety of techniques and materials, allowing her to tell rich stories about identity. Jasmine’s work shines a light on the visible and often overlooked aspects of her community, challenging harmful stereotypes with optimism and passion. Through her art, she not only expresses herself but also embarks on a meaningful journey of self-acceptance, exploration, and practice in self-care that she gets to model for her children while also sharing within her community.
